The second day started with waking up, and heading downstairs to eat breakfast. Afterwards, there was about a half-hour of free time, followed by us splitting into our hiking groups and heading to our meeting room.

We then set out, beginning the hike along the Firescrew and Cardigan mountains. Along the way, we sketched things like mushrooms, trees and plants, and the view of Cardigan from off Firescrew. We also stopped to eat lunch as well as multiple snack/water breaks and collected more of the Indian-root cucumbers. As we hiked higher, the landscaping changed as well. Closer to the bottom of the mountains, there were many maple, oak, and birch trees, as well as a few pines. Though once we started hiking higher, it faded into fir, spruce, and much more pine, still thinning out as we climbed higher. Closer to the top, it became rock top, with a few scattered shrubs and smaller trees.

Once at the top, we explored the fire tower, sketched a bit more, then took a group photo. When we have gotten back, we regathered back in our meeting space, talking a bit about our hike before then being sent off to have free time. During my free time I went and took a shower, then curled up in my bunk room and took a nap. After that nap, there was dinner and night activity, benign skits about Leave No Trace, and a bit of stargazing. When we got back inside, we hear another few stories from Mr. Woolner, then we gathered back upstairs in our rooms and headed off to sleep.
